37th Black History Month by Ashley Jennings

I know Martin, I respect him.

But My History doesn’t begin in 1963 when he had his dream.

I honor Harriet and appreciate what she’s done for our people and how she showed me a Black Girl Superhero

But My Herstory doesn’t begin in 1822 when she was born.

I’ve celebrated 37 Black History Months and want to honor some of the ancestors who I’m not so familiar with.

There’s more Greatness in My History than despair. From Affonso I who ruled in Congo, encouraged his people to Christianity and was the 1st Ruler to resist the slave trade and Hatshepsut, Pharaoh of the Bronze Era, also referred to as the “The First Female Ruler” who was a peaceful ruler and the first female Pharaoh.

We were and still are Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses, Scientists, Experts, Healers, Teachers, Architects, Carpenters, Engineers and all things Great!

Health Issues and generational curses aren’t in my DNA. Wholeness, Community, Abounding Love and Great Joy is my Present, Future, and History.

On this, my 37th Black History Celebration, I celebrate my true culture and Honor my Ancestors by living my life to it’s fullest. For I am truly their wildest dream come true 💛
