We are a group of people brought together through the love of Jesus Christ. We are all broken people, each with our share of problems in our lives. So, we know what it’s like. We’re not expecting you to have it all together. You belong here, together in fellowship with Christ. Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

Life is hard, but it’s easier together.  We’re able to encourage each other, have fun together, and support each other in hard times. That’s why God designed us for community. We’re better together.

Historic Woodland Hills area of Cleveland

BUCKEYE-WOODLAND was an east side Hungarian community, est. after 1880, which once held the largest concentration of HUNGARIANS in the U.S. Earlier Hungarian settlements at E. 79th and Holton eventually expanded to E. 72nd on the west, Woodland on the north, E. 140th on the east, and Kinsman on the south, with Buckeye Rd. being the prime location for homes and businesses. This area is best known for LUKE EASTER PARK, at Kinsman Road and East 116th streets in southeast Cleveland (formerly known as WOODLAND HILLS PARK). Luke Easter Park also housed the Woodland Hills swimming pool, ball diamonds, a playground, outdoor basketball courts, an outdoor running track, bleachers, and shelter houses for picnicking.

Community Activities

  • Food Drive – Anyone is welcome to come each 3rd Saturday from 1pm and 3pm. Clients are welcome to the freshest items we have available that day.
  • Back to School Give Away – The Back-2-School Giveaway is designed to support the Woodland Hills Cleveland community in helping prepare students, as we approach the upcoming school year.
  • Clothing Drive – Giving Back, Damascus Missionary Baptist Church sponsors an annual clothing drive.  All are welcome to donate or obtain clothes, shoes, household items and more.
  • Youth Activities – Our youth frequently engage in fun, family oriented spiritually focused activities.  Look at our calendar for information.

Objectives

  • To provide outreach into the community to share the love of Christ.
  • To serve in the Body of Christ and in the community to love and serve with excellence.
  • To encourage the Body of Christ through their service in the church to identify and use their spiritual gift(s) to meet the needs of others.
  • To encourage the group to apply what they have learned through Bible study by participating in a mission activity that will enhance their personal growth.
